The Cleveland Chain Reaction Project is being produced to create jobs, investment and prosperity in Cleveland’s neighborhoods while providing education and coaching for entrepreneurs and aspiring business owners for the greater benefit of our community.

Collinwood

The Greater Collinwood neighborhood encompasses the northeast corner of the city (including the northern and southern portions of Collinwood) as well as the Euclid Green neighborhood and eastern-most portions of Glenville. It stretches from approximately East 134th to East 200th streets, bounded by Lake Erie to the north and bordered by suburbs East Cleveland, Bratenahl and Euclid. In the past five years, more than $4 million of local and national philanthropic funds for artist support and commercial rehabilitation. This work has repositioned Waterloo Road as the Waterloo Arts & Entertainment District. A number of distinct collaborative artisan workspaces have opened — from Zygote Press’ Ink House to Praxis Fiber Studio to Brick Ceramic + Design Studio to Cleveland Rock’s musician rehearsal hub — as well as the nation’s first renter equity live-work program. Commercial vacancy along Waterloo, where the CDC initiated its commercial redevelopment strategies, has shrunk from 40% to barely 7%, and supports more than 40 locally owned businesses and nonprofits.

Greater Collinwood Development Corp. also continues its focus on East 185th Street and strives to make sure their work in physical investments have the potential to strengthen economic prospects within the community. To date, the organization has invested more than $400,000 in the launch of roughly 200 small-scale community arts projects to support the business environment. The LaSalle Theater has undergone a $4.2 Million restoration and now serves as an important anchor for this commercial district. Collinwood has a vibrant commercial district, a new business corridor, a committed Small Business Development Center, and plenty of available property to make it an ideal choice for Cleveland Chain Reaction.
